At the 2008 value of $20.25, the Mid-Coast Chapter provided $10,337.63 worth of service to our communities last month, $163,442.81 so far in 2009, and $1,253,191.50 since Chapter inception in 2000.*
*What is a Volunteer's Time Worth? The Independent Sector tracks the value of volunteer time, updated yearly. That value was $16.54/hour in 2002, $17.19/hour in 2003, $17.55 in 2004, $18.04 in 2005, $18.77 in 2006, $19.51 in 2007 and $20.25 per hour for 2008. Value is based on the average hourly earnings for nonmanagement, nonagricultural workers as determined by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, and then increased by 12 percent to estimate fringe benefits.
